Lessons for Kitty

On a recent trip to Petco, I fell in love with a kitty and my bleeding heart just had to bring her home. Said kitty has been named Ginger and is now the newest resident of the Hammond household. Ginger is an SPCA kitty and seems to be a cross between a tabby and a calico, which is perfect because I love stripes and polka dots.

Ginger is a wonderful cat. She is friendly, talkative and litter trained. I do, however, have a few words of wisdom to any cool cats out there looking to keep their owners happy during their slumber.

1. Do not play in your water dish and then climb into bed with your owner. She will think you peed in her bed at 2:30 am and have a minor heart attack.

2. Do not knock things over in the middle of the night to wake up your owner so that she will pet you.

3. It is not necessary to sleep on your owner's pillow at 4 am.

4. Day or night, suitcases are not scratching posts.

Ginger is a wonderful creature. I know this because yesterday I babysat a 4 month old infant affectionately (sortve) nicknamed "Cryin' Brian." I left with spit-up down my entire left side. Turns out that water in your bed really isn't a big deal...

Advice for owners:

1. Ask your parents if you can bring a new animal home first. The blood drained from my mom's face when she first saw Ginger. Pretty rude if you ask me since she's an adorable kitty. Anyhow, mom is adjusting. In fact, she checked on Ginger while I was at work yesterday about 6 times and texted me regular updates. Turns out Ginger likes to sit on my laptop and watch birds from the window.

Here's Ginger's internet modeling debut...
