Important People In My Life

There are a lot of theories out there on the meaning of people in our lives. One of my favorites is from The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Basically, it says that we have to be independent so that we can be interdependent and that when we reach a state of interdependence, we are truly successful. A little to philosophical for me, but I'm a fan. I think it says "people need people" while still holding them responsible for their personal mission statements. Plus it has the familiar feel of General Systems Theory. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systems_theory) --Don't judge the wikipedia link... Anyhow, these are the people in my life that are super important to me and my web of life.

In the order in which I was introduced to them:

Mom - Pam is a 5th grade teacher and the director of Vacation Bible School at Resurrection Lutheran Church.

Dad - Retired Air Force Pilot. Proud member of the 32nd York Rangers, a gun club with a history problem. He is a very wise man. More on his fatherly advice to come. A tidbit for now: "Lindsey, Bud Light [dramatic pause] is the key to life."

Kevin - 19 year old brother and all around frat star. What can I say, he learned from the best. He will start is sophomore year at Hampden-Sydney College in August. He is a good example of a college student with more potential than he knows.

Radar - My family's 4 year old Brittany Spaniel. She has red hair and freckles and my mom calls her my twin. My parents got her after I went to college and she is 100% my replacement. Fun fact: this summer I taught her to think the word for treat was "Bud Light." Imagine my brother and I chasing her after an attempted escape from the backyard yelling "Radar, COME!!!" Now imagine what the neighbors thought when I screamed "BUD LIGHT RADAR!!!!" at the top of my lungs and the dog came running back home...

Hoops - My big sister in Sigma Kappa. She is an all around amazing friend and role model. Within 2 hours of knowing each other, people assumed we had been friends for years.

Spring 07 - My Sigma Kappa pledge class. They have taught me a lot about what it means to be a friend and sister.

Heather - Not only the first follower of my blog, but also a sister in Sigma Kappa. Heather and I were roommates at "SS 119 Church Street" our senior year. We bonded over Bud Light Limes and an inability to cook anything but microwave popcorn, for which we both share an intense love.

Luds - A Diva BFF and one of my Sigma Kappa little sisters. She's going to be in the movies. Yup, she's kind of a big deal.

Suz- My other fabulous Sigma Kappa little sister and a definite BFF. She's a budding student affairs professional and I couldn't be anymore proud of her. She's doing Sigma Kappa proud.

Greer - A wonderful friend and sister in the PHC bond. She taught me much about goal setting, adventures and enjoying life. She just might be the next big thing to hit the student affairs world too!

Kelly M. - A friend who is 100% supportive. We always seem to understand what the other is going through. She once lent me an umbrella for an interview and I kept it for months, for which I am deeply sorry.

Soon To Be Super Important People/Already Pretty Important People

All of HESA :)

Disclaimer: I hold a B.S. in Biology and Psychology. Random science facts and General Systems Theory (GST) references are an unfortunate side affect.
