De-PinkandGreen-Ify??? In an effort to act like a 22 year old young professional, I recently attempted to reduce the insane amounts of pink and green that exist in my life. The first place I started was with my taste in home furnishings. I got rid of the all-pink-Princess-Anne style couch that had seen better days (Someone once called it the AIDS couch because he claimed it looked diseased. It did not, it was just well loved.) and then roped several unsuspecting people (Luds, the bff, and my Mom) into shopping with me. My first experience was with Luds and involved shopping for a new comforter at SEVEN different stores. Macys, JC Pennys, Dilliards, Home Goods, Kohls, Marshalls, and FINALLY TJ Maxx. This was after extensive online shopping focused on a tan duvet cover. The day started off well, after I gave up on plain, boring tan, and I was attracted to more adult floral prints. The day ended (after six hours) at TJ Maxx with a brightly colored floral patchwork quilt. The quilt has orange, salmon, blue, yellow, green and pink! I'm quite happy with it, but it does include pink and green. Nonetheless, a little more adult than the pink and white stripes and baby floral pattern I did have. My second experience was shopping for a couch. I was convinced, yet again, that tan was the way to go. I went to FIVE furniture stores and ended up at Haynes. I found the beauty featured below in the back in clearance and knew I had to have it. After hours of wandering around furniture stores, I hadn't so much as given a couch a second chance. I probably only tested (sat on) a total of 5 couches the entire shopping excursion. My Mom was ready to kill me. Anyhow, the attempt to de-pinkandgreen-ify my life was an epic failure. I did realize, however, that I am NOT a boring tan person. I am pink and green, super fun and 100% original and that's okay with me. A few pictures of the new couch... ![]() | ||||
