Life Update:

I am engaged. How did I forget to post about this? So, when I started this blog I had this pretty great boyfriend that I was super scared about leaving after college when I moved to South Carolina and he moved to Northern Virginia. Welp, apparently things worked out -- one breakup and a cat later. We met in college in the Greek Life Office. He was IFC president and I was on Panhellenic. He was outrageous and dualistic, I was kind and hardworking. Guess which one of us drove our advisors crazy? (Not me...sorry Matt isn't really sorry OFSL Staff). Anyhow, deep down I saw the awesome, diligent, caring, and silly person on the inside. Not that I had to look THAT intensely, sorry if I gave that impression.

During Greek Week 2009, we started to hang out when Matt so kindly agreed to drive me, and an entire truck bed full of cinderblocks around. A few more car trips turned into a few dates, which landed us in the brand spanking new Panera in Blacksburg. (Panera was a really big deal in Blacksburg at the time!) It was the day after graduation for the Class of 2009 and we were both all packed up and ready to head home to our summer jobs until the fall of our senior year. After much nervous chit chat, Matt finally said, "So, I like you and I think we should date." I was surprised and slightly annoyed because this was totally going to ruin my carefree and noncommittal image, but something inside of me hesitated and made me rethink. Good thing my gut was on top of it's game that day, because instead of saying no I ended up blurting out "Let's do it! Let's date!" inappropriately loud. To make matters worse, my words, which can only be described as a proclamation, were accompanied by slamming my hands down on the table before nervously returning them to my lap. Luckily, Matt and I will never have to go on a first date or have a DTR (define the relationship) conversation again!

Matt proposed in April on the Pylons at War Memorial on the Virginia Tech campus. It was very Hokie and we even ate at my favorite dining hall beforehand. Trust me, the food at VT is soooooo good that you would want to eat there too! It was sentimental and fantastic to share that special moment with the campus and community that shaped who we both are today.

We are getting married July 14, 2012. We are excited, a little nervous, and totally overwhelmed by wedding planning. Hopefully I can practice saying "I do" before the ceremony so that I don't blurt out another unexpected proclamation!

Anyone have any tips on how to manage wedding planning, jobs & grad school? We would love to hear them!
